🚀 VeteranDB v0.43.0 Is Here: Organization Roles and Access
We’ve released one of the most important updates to VeteranDB’s organizational foundation.
Until now, listings and access were largely connected to individual accounts. With this release, VeteranDB now has a complete role-based access control system built around organizations.
Your account represents you. The organization owns its listings and resources. Your role determines what you are authorized to manage.
What’s new:
🏢 Organization roles and permissions
Organizations can assign access based on each person’s responsibilities.
🙋 Request a role
Users can request access to an organization without waiting for someone to manually initiate an invitation.
✉️ Organization invitations
Organizations can invite people to join their teams, and recipients can accept or decline those invitations.
🔐 Organization-scoped listings
Businesses, Nonprofits, Directories, and Podcasts have been reworked so they belong to and are managed through organizations—not individual accounts.
👥 Improved account support
Account Type handling has been updated to work with the new organization access model.
🖼️ Organization logos
Organizations can now upload a logo that appears throughout the VeteranDB Portal.
We also introduced several security and SEO improvements, including new browser security headers, consistent URL formatting, corrected page-heading structures, repaired image paths, and improved loading behavior.
This release also fixes an issue preventing newly created businesses from appearing immediately and improves the loading experience when creating an organization.
This is more than a permissions update. It establishes the foundation for organization teams, claimed listings, delegated management, magazine contributors, employers, content ownership, and many of the features planned for VeteranDB’s future.

This is something that we're working on now. Along with dependents, we are also setting up the ability to have non-Veteran related people register too. This requires scoped user roles, which we don't have yet. The scoped user roles will also set us up for our upcoming magazine, as well as, the future job board.
We will begin rolling out scoped user roles this month.
